Construction And History Of Forthbank

forthbank stadium seats

The Central Regional Council decided to build Forthbank to replace the town’s previous football stadium, Annfield. Annfield was deemed unsalvageable. Thus, the council chose to construct Forthbank as a replacement. Since 1993, Stirling FC have called Forthbank their home. Forthbank was named after Stirling’s original football stadium, Forthbank Park.

In 1992, when Forthbank Stadium was built, it was intended to be an all-seater stadium, with room for expansion by adding two terraces, one behind each goal. Six hundred people can enjoy the outdoors on these terraces, which were built in the mid-’90s.

The home fans are usually seen in the West stand, the largest stadium’s stands. The club’s administrative offices and hospitality suites are on the main stand. Press rooms, the police control center, and detention areas are all located in the East stand, which is reserved for away fans.

Temporary Rebranding

After a three-year sponsorship contract was signed in 2010, Forthbank Stadium became known as the Doubletree Dunblane Stadium. However, the agreement was not renewed, and the Forthbank has since reverted to its former name of Forthbank.

Preparations are currently being made, and projects are in the works to accommodate the growing population. The Stirling Council has begun creating additional recreational and sporting venues around Forthbank. The new St. Modan’s High School, also built by the council, is conveniently located near Forthbank.

History of Stirling FC

Stirling FC

The Stirling Albion Football Club plays in the Scottish Premier League. Annfield Stadium, the club’s home since its founding in 1945, served as the venue until the new stadium opened in 1993.

Before the first ball was kicked, a group of fans had met and decided to call themselves the Albion Coal Club. To avoid playing on the new pitch in cup matches, clubs had the option to do so; as a result, Stirling Albion had to travel to other venues for the next five years whenever the club was in the tournament.

The team avoided relegation, but Annfield was demolished, and a new stadium was constructed on the outskirts of Stirling, near the River Forth. Binos manager Allan Moore patiently led his team from its nadir to the Scottish First Division over five seasons.

Concerned about the club’s future ownership and profitability, Stirling Albion fans banded together in May 2009 and launched a campaign to acquire the club, complete with a car sticker and poster campaign. When the fans’ trust of Stirling Albion bought the team outright, it made history as the first professional sports team in Scotland to be owned entirely by its fan base.

Players hoping to earn a contract for the 2011-12 season were asked to pay £200 to participate in the club’s ‘So You Think You’re Good Enough? trials in the summer of 2011. Manager Kevin Rutkiewicz was fired from Stirling Albion in December 2021. He had been with the team since October 2018.
