About Cambridge University Press Football Club

Cambridge University Press Football Club (CUPFC) has a rich history, dating back to its formation in 1901. The club was founded by members of the Cambridge University Press, who were passionate about football and wanted to form a team to represent their organization.

In its early years, the club played friendly matches against local teams in the Cambridge area. However, as its reputation grew, it started to compete in more formal leagues and tournaments. The club even won the Cambridgeshire Junior Cup in 1913, cementing its place as a serious football team.

During the First World War, many members of the club were called up to serve in the military. As a result, the team was forced to suspend its activities for several years. However, in 1919, the club was re-formed, and it has been going strong ever since.

Over the years, CUPFC has played in various leagues and competitions, both at the local and national level. One of the most significant moments in the club’s history came in the 1950s when it won the Cambridgeshire Premier League for the first time. This success was followed by a period of sustained excellence, with the team winning numerous league titles and cup competitions in the years that followed.

In recent years, the club has continued to thrive, with a new generation of players and supporters carrying on the traditions established by their predecessors. The team currently plays in the Kershaw Premier League, where it competes against other local teams in the Cambridge area.
