How to move to stadium

If traveling by Tyne & Wear Metro

The Daren Persson Stadium can be easily reached from Newcastle city center by Tyne & Wear metro from Monument station. There are 2 station stops that you can get off to walk to the stadium: Meadow Well and North Shields. If you get off at Meadow Well, it takes about 5 minutes, and North Shields is longer with 10 minutes on foot.

By bus

You can catch buses 306 and 310 from Newcastle city center to Tynemouth near the stadium. You can grab these 2 buses at Haymarket bus station or bus stops near your house. When you arrive at Tynemouth you can head east to the stadium located off Waterville Road.

Car

You can park for free on West Percy Road adjacent to the stadium or in the limited parking spots in the yard. You can look up the postal code NE29 OLH to find the most accurate route.

From the south of Tyne

You’ll need to go through a toll booth but don’t stop at the Tyne Tunnels, just go straight ahead. Automated License Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras will automatically recognize your Vehicle Registration Number when you pass through the tunnel within the speed limit and send you an electronic bill of payment. You just need to pay the same day to get 10% off the fee or pay before midnight the next day on the website.

North Shields Athletic Football Club is headquartered at Daren Persson Stadium, in North Shields, Tyne, and Wear, England. The club was founded in 1896. Initially, the club played only in the South Shields and the District League. They then joined the Northern Combination and became the runner-up of this tournament in the 1900-01 season. 

Later, the club moved again and arrived at Appleby Park at Hawkey’s Lane, North Shields around 1900. After eight seasons as North Shields Athletic, the club went on to join the Northern Alliance. 1904 and quickly won the championship in two consecutive seasons 1906-07 and 1907-08. The club was later admitted to the North Eastern League and was a member until 1914-15 when the competition was suspended because of the First World War.

After the war ended, they changed their name to Preston Colliery and continued their tournaments and victories until the 1927-28 season, when they were relegated to 2nd place.

North Shields Athletic Football Club

At the beginning of the 1928–29 season, the club again changed its name to North Shields FC and immediately again won the championship and was promoted to the 1st division of the Northeast League until 1958.

The club throughout its playing history has recorded many remarkable achievements. After promotion to Northern League Division One, they won the Northern Premier League Division One East in 2022. Most notably, the FA Vase final in the 2014-15 season where they went on to win the following championship. by beating Glossop North End AFC 2-1 AET.

Currently, the club is also the club that owns the Daren Persson stadium with a capacity of up to 1500 people. Currently, the club is operated by the club manager Marc Nash and chairman Alan Matthews.
